Does this look good?

I'm looking for a new intake for my '02 SS, I was thinking about the SLP Lid and filter but what do you think about this:

It looks like it really smooths out the path to the intake. Do you guys see any problems with this?

Thanks for looking!

Looks like a decent deal. But what all comes with it? If you still have to go out and get the bellows I dont know if it would still be worth it. Or the example might just have different bellows because of a larger MAF. Try emailing the selling and asking some questions.

I called them up and the bellows, the tube, the filter, the air senser bracket (welded on the tube), and for the '02 a breather tube.

They usually sale them for $189 but they are selling them on ebay for $139 so tehy can get some of them out in market and get people talking about them.

I have some scrap aluminum I could make the radiator cover with that would look sweet with that thing.

Looks alright. Looks alot like my K&N FIPK. When you put it on, you may want to take the screen out of your MAF. Watch out for the little sensors in there. I added my FIPK and drag radials at the same time. Had a very nice drop in 1/4 mile times. Any set up is better than stock. Note on your stock opening that it is about 3/4 inch by 12 inches. That is a tight opening. A set up like the one you are looking at is going to allow for greater airflow. Good luck

That setup is GREAT. I actually run that in my '01 SS. I did take the screen out of my maf. Im not sure on the power gains, but im going to the dyno on Friday so i'll let u know.

Just a question for the people with this setup or the FIPK, I know that more air the better, but with these systems do you lose power since the filter can also get hot air from the engine compartment. I figure that the Lid with the FRA and a holly or K&N might be better for the fact that it gets only cold air from outside the car.

Here are some Pros I've come up with:

1. 30% larger filter (additional surface area to offer air through)

2. Smooth Path to throttle body (smooth bellows allow the intake to flex with out obstructing airflow)

3. Might allow more cool air from below and in front. "Ram Air holes from hood can be enlarged for the taller filter rather then just the 3/4" opening if front of the the lid.

4. Get rid of that ugly plastc radiator cover and construct a polished aluminum cover.

5. It only cost $139, includes filter, mandrel-bent tube, breather tube filter, Cone filter, smooth bellows

6. Can polish the intake tube.

Cons:

1. Engine bay might get dustier with larger vents

2. Warm air intake while the car isn't moving

3. Doesn't have as clean of a look.

I'll let you guys know how it works.

cover it

Hey, it's probably a good intake from the looks of it, but definitely make a cover. It's not too aesthetically pleasing...!
