Do MAF ends work?

Do the T BYRNE MAF ends really give a 6-8 hp increase or is this like the smooth bellows, where gains are questionable. Anyone have any experience with these?

MAF ends make the interior diameter of your MAF slightly larger. This decreases the air velocity, so the PCM thinks there is less load. When there's less load, timing is higher, and that leans out the car a bit. There's your gain.

It use to be 'the thing' to add. Once LS1-Edit came out and many had problems tuning their car accurately because they couldn't measure the new airflow through the ends, it kinda died out.

I had one and gave it away. If you're going to change the MAF, buy one which has a matching PCM flow table, like the 85mm Z06 MAF. You'll still need to have the MAF table adjusted by a tuner.

And then after the puter sees the leaner O2 readings it adds fuel back in and goes back to running like stock except that the load reading that the puter determines from MAF flow are not right.
