converter or exhaust

I'm doing my next mod, probably my last if the wife much to say about it, so I want to make it good one. I'm looking into either a 3500 stall or possibly doing lt headers, y-pipe and cat. Which set up will provide me the most fun.

Re: converter or exhaust

Do you have to reflash the computer to do a stall or is it "plug n play?"

Re: converter or exhaust

Don't forget, without good tires. A stall won't help much off the line. But I would go with a stall first.

Re: converter or exhaust

Why do you say you can't run headers here in Jersey Antz97ZNJ? Because of potholes maybe but everybody I know runs em. ---Rich

Re: converter or exhaust

if you run at the track, the stall will benefit you more...

HOWEVER, if the car is just a pleasure vehicle, I'd recommend the full exhaust (headers, ypipe, catback), you'll appreciate the aural sensation.

Re: converter or exhaust

Hey birchman....How do you like your slp headers and borla? That is the set up I was looking at right now. Let me know if it sounds good and if you have clearance issues? I've heard the slp headers sit weird?

Thanks for the advice though. I go to the track but not enought to warrent buying a stall if it isn't going to be worth the effort.

Re: converter or exhaust

If your looking for the "fun factor", then I would go with the converter for sure. It will benefit more at the track and on the street. The longtubes will sound great but won't be near as fun as the converter. I'll take a car with an aftermarket converter and stock manifolds over a car with stock conv. and headers any day! But that's JMO.
