Cold/Open loop missfire... need new plugs??
I searched, but it only came up w/ a code for Coil 7. (The symptoms were the same except I haven't thrown a SES light. (Cold, low on fuel 1/4 tank)
I went to take off this morning, she was still freshly started. I was at a low RPM in 3rd (2nd's smoked)... I gave it some throttle and I felt it missfire... (hasitation and skipping).. once she warmed up, 3 or 4 minutes later, it went away. I have TR55 plugs. They've been in there for about 10K miles. How do I know if I need new ones? -Missfiring? Thanx guys. |
Re: Cold/Open loop missfire... need new plugs??
Pull the number 7 plug and check to see if its toast, if not, check the gap.
TR55s are copper plugs only good for about 10,000 miles of street duty, and less if you are a leadfoot....The electrode will actually slowly disingrate from the heat and burn away. Sounds like you need to install new plugs. I went from the TR55s to the TR55ix (irridiums) and get the same performance as the TR55s (when new), only with more longevity. They cost more, but they made me a happy guy. :) |

^ longer life?? They work ok w/ Distributorless ignition?? THe last time I tired iridiums or platnums was in my Cavie back in 99.. No good w/ that one.
