The SSRA, hands down.

agreed, the SSRA

some people have concerns over water getting into the intake, but i drive my car i HEAVY rains here in florida and have no problems. obviously you don't want to be driving through 6" deep puddles at speed cause you will definatly increase the risk.

the closest "testimonial" i heard of this problem was a guy in orlando area i think. he was driving through puddles in a parking lot trying to spray water....and he ended up hydrolocking his car  not exactly normal circumstances.

and if you search for the SSRA you hear alot of guys say they use some foam to block off the scoop during heavy rains. i have not done this, don't really see a need....just drive more careful! if it's pouring THAT MUCH...you should be going slower anyway.

Thanks! I need to get a ram air kit. From looking on their site it appears to come with the inlet but this would not seal the air box completely. What did you use to completely seal the air box so that the only air going to the filter comes from the rectangular opening?

Mine came with weatherstripping to seal everything off, the air inlet at the front and under the filter.

whats so great about the ssra as opposed to the flow pack? stock i ran 13.8 flow pack and loud mouth i ran 13.2 sounds like 6 tenths for 5 bills! money well spent!

Re: Cold-Air Induction Package

flow pack has wasted money on the bellows which are nothing more than a visual mod. and the cold air unit is just that...a cold air unit.

the SSRA is a true ram air scoop...functions just like the slp cai at slow speeds, but a full on ram air at higher speeds

combine that with a lid and filter (optional...highly debated) and you have more effective induction than the flowpac

You did NOT gain those 6 tenths from the flow pack. There are/were other contributing factors. No way in hedoublehockeysticks did you gain 60 hp from the flowpack.
And for future reference ET is an indicator of traction. MPH is an indicator of HP. How much MPH did you gain?

Re: Cold-Air Induction Package

exactly, you could have gained half of that .60 from track prep and weather variables. even something as simple as headwind/ tailwind. or better yet experience at the track with the car.

it's simple

slow speeds.....flowpac = SSRA+lid
high speeds.....SSRA+lid>>> flowpac

for about the same $$ in the end, i think the choice is obvious...unless all of you driving is under 40mph

If you are looking for more hp, I guess it wouldn't at least hurt you.

Re: Cold-Air Induction Package

when putting the SSRA on the car, does that take off the intake I already have? Do 02's have ls6 intake or just ls6 intake manifold? about how beneficial would SSRA be on the 02 with that and a lid? thanks
