Clutch Problems
Hey Ya'll,
I have a 99 z28 with 40K miles. I am having difficulty engaging my cluth. I have little resistance when I push down the clutch pedal. It freely travels for about 5 inches and then the pedal provides the normal resistance for the last two inches. The clutch gets stuck down and does not bounch back (it gets stuck on the floor). ?Please provide recommendation for a new clutch and additional hydrolic or spring component for the clutch pedal? I am considering the STAR II for my clutch and have no idea what to do about the pedal? Thanks! Respectfully, JBM |
the sticking is due to the hydraulics...when u get a new clutch be sure to get the updated hydraulics from gm....and also i would strongly recommend u get a stage 3 ceramic...i have it one of my buddies has it and now a another buddy is getting it....i love it and its great

i had a similar problem a while ago. couple of years. It turned out to be the return spring. It will slip the holder and cause the pedel to not return correctly.

Mine did that. It was the slave cylinder going. Another thing you want to check is the fluid level for your clutch system. make sure you have enough fluid for one.
As far as the Star Stage 3, I have an 8# ATI blower on my car and I run the Stage 3 Kevlar clutch with NO problems. I also upgraded to a 145 Slave(newest version) and an adjustable Master(waste of $$$, don't get it). hope all works out. Take care |
Another vote for a Stage III ceramic. I have it in my car and I love it.
