Clutch Pedal Pressure

Hi Guys,

After changing out the stock clutch master cylinder with the McLeod adjustable one, I've notice the pedal pressure increased about 20%. Is this normal for McLoed? I believe the system is bleed completely. Will trap air cause this pressure increase?

Also I've notice a whining noise from the engine. It increase with engine speed not road speed, but the sound is faint. This shouldn't be caused by the master cylinder changeout. However it start it making this noise right after the installation. I've got only 3,000 miles on the car.

Thanks,

Walter

Its possible that the new clutch master is not releasing fully when the pedal is all the way up. Try sitting at an idle with the clutch pedal to the floor. Start releasing the pedal. How far from the floor is the pedal when it starts to grab? Also do the opposite. For this test find a large empty parking lot. Put car in first and release pedal at idle. Once idle smooths out and car is rolling start pushing the clucth pedal down. How far from the top do you start releasing the clutch? If either action is to close to the top / bottom you may want to adjust the master cylinder.

After the new clutch was put in my pedal pressure feels normal again. It used to be real stiff. YOu would have to stomp on it to get it in. Now the car is easier to drive. It will probably take me a good week to get use to the new pedal pressure though.
