cam question
how does a 224-224 581-581 112lsa cam profile compare to thunder racing 224-224 cam profile?
|
Re: cam question
Different cams, different lift. No comparison between the two.

Re: cam question
for the better or worse?

Re: cam question
they should be similar in performance.
bigger quesion is what the lobe profiles are like...how steep they are. and the 112 separation will have a rougher idle |
Re: cam question
I have the TR 224/224 cam and I loved every second of it. Good driveability, made good power, not too obnoxious.
The other cam I have no experience with so I won't say yay or nay, but it's tough to compare the two. |
Re: cam question
The 224/224, .581/.581 is likely going to have more aggressive ramp rates (can't say for sure because I'm sure how 'flat' the lobe is at max lift) than the TR224. Given that both cams have the same duration/LSA, they will sound pretty similar at idle.
Given that the 224/224, .581/.581 cam likely has more aggressive ramp rates, it *should* make slightly more torque on the low end and die off slightly sooner than the TR224. However, the TR224 has ~ .020 less lift which will probably make the cams peak at a similar RPM, with the 224/224, .581/.581 still making a little more torque down low and having a slightly broader torque curve. These are simply speculations as I don't know exactly which lobe profile the 224/224, .581/.581 is ground on and every car responds differently to different cams. Take it as such. :) |
