!cags -- Ses Lit

I finally installed the home made CAGS override -- Radio Shack resistor. It is WONDERFUL to shift into second gear any time you want. The down side is the SES light lit on the second time the car was started. I reset the PCU and drive the car about 20 minutes to check it out and it is fine, skip shift disabled and the SES light not lit. The next time the car is started, the SES light comes right on and stays on there after. I reset the PCU and second time and had the same results.

What might be the problem?

wrong resistance...buy a skip shift eliminator, it will keep much longer with the weather proof connectors.

My radio shack resistor has held up quite well thank you :-) But yea sounds like the wrong resistance, try losing the extra wire maybe, that and make sure it's getting a clean contact with the connector. Spending $30 on a $0.99 mod is really not necessary.

are u sure you put it on the 2nd gear skip shift......u could have also hooked it up to the reverse lockout.....

but if u say it lets u shift into 2nd then i guess u did hook it up to it...

Thanks for the replies. I went to AutoZone this past weekend and had them read the code. Sure enough it was the "up shift module" So, I need to make sure it's making a good connection and also check the resistor. Thanks again.

I paid $20 for my skip shift mod. It was well worth the $20 not to have to worry about the resistor falling out, or the connectors getting water in them. I can't remember the place I bought it, but it's a plug-in module like SLP's.

Search the net. Just beware of buying one from eBay. Most (not all) of them are selling the $.10 resistor for $10 - $15 and making you *think* you're getting the plug-in module, when in fact you're just getting a single resistor and a link to InstallUniversity.com

Problem solved. Step #1: Make sure you are given the part(s) you requested. Yep! I got the wrong resistor, so yesterday I made another trip to Radio Shack and got the correct resistor. It works great!!!!! Second gear when you want it. Life is good.
