My Old Man just purchased a 1993 C4 Vette. I have a 2001 SS. The seats in Pops Vette seem much more comfortable that my SS. The SS only has 8K miles. The Vette has almost 90K! I also noticed you can buy an aftermarket "cushion" for the middle console in the Vette. Why can't we do the same for the SS? The middle console in the Camaro's are harder than the Vette stock one! My elbows hurt after a long ride.

I think I might just sell my SS and buy a nice, used C4.

Where can I get a cushion for the middle console for the SS?

LS1 SS, hands down!

I've only driven one C4.........a '91 'Vette.........but compared to my LS1 Z28, I'd take my car over the 'Vette any day of the week.

Sure, 'Vettes have that "prestige" over F-bodies, but for the simple fact of LS1 vs LT1, I'd take the LS1 F-body. You can't beat the engine. Also, I'm not sure about the quality of C4's? I know that C5's are definitely higher quality than 4th-gen F-bodies, but I don't know if C4's are as good as C5's quality wise either?

 

I hear you Captain Pete, but where can I get a middle console cushion? That damn thing is hard! I just did a search and this subject has never even been posted!

Check at either end of your old ladies' sofa.
Don't get all bent out of shape, but if it bothers you that bad maybe you should consider sitting up straight rather than leaning on the console.

 

Custom make one. Just like guys go out and custom fab new doorpads, dashpads, you name it, make a new lid for the center glovebox and make it more padded. Then you'll have a faster car than a '93 'Vette, but you'll have just as "cushy" an armrest!

IMO C5(LS1) > Camaro(LS1) > C4(LT1)

The 91 Vettes were only an L98, so yeah, of course the LS1 will feel much better, as well as any LT1 corvette is going to feel better than the L98. The LS1 car will be faster. BUT, you start modding the Vette, and it will be a mad beast. The handling is much better, as well as a lighter car. Or like someone else said, the LT4 Vette is > than an LS1 F body. Stock for stock they make about the same power, but the Vette has the handling and is lighter, so it'll be a good car. I would personally love to have an LT4 Vette. And I'd take it over an LS1 F body anyday, no questions.

 

What is the best year C4? The C5 began in 98 right? There's the LT1 Vette(300HP) and LT4 Vette(330HP)......

I would say C4 LT4 would be a much better overall sportscar than any LS1 F-Body.

C5 started in '97......and the LT4 was only available in the vette in '96 and with a 6 speed.

 

I beg to differ, my brothers Grand Sport (LT4) was dynoed 311rwhp bone stock and ran a 13.3@109mph in stock form. No way in hell a LT1 car would do 320 at the wheels.

 

I didn't know that. When I saw under the hood, I thought it looked like an LT1!!

I'd still rather have an LS1 though (but then I'm not restricted to F-body...........I'd take a C5 ).
