Borla
Looks like it's P/N 14911 that you need.

Actually, I cheated - that's the SS P/N , but I can't imagine there is much of a difference .
Better than Flowmaster ?
Dunno - never heard/dealt w/ Flowmaster.
I can say that my Borla tips look cool
& even w/ the quietest plate in I can be heard when I throw revs !
I can also say that it's a tad bit loud at highway speeds for me - like a well worn glass pack !
Kinda neat to hear it burble & pop, though.

My friend has flowmasters on his 2000 t/a i have borla on my 98 z .... personaly i like the borla i love the deep growl of a V8. his seems to put out a higher pitch that just doesnt cut it for me, so in my opinion i'd go with borla.. ive always liked em.

PS, just make sure you run it with cats because it sounds completely different(horrible) without them.

2002 M6 Z28
I have the Borla catback on my 1994 Z28M6 (LT1, no I am not lost) with JBA Jet Hot headers and a hollow Random Cat (bricks broke, so I just cleared it out). Great build quality, but could get obnoxious if the bypass is used with any of various sized bypass plates.
Recently, I installed a DMH Electric Exhaust Cutout at the Borla bypass Y pipe. Muffled, the Borla sounds less deep than a Flowmaster and is not objectionable for long trips on the highway. It sounds a little louder than stock (my M6 always seemed to have a louder stock exhaust than autos?). With the valve opened 30% or greater, it just plain sounds "bad-***" at wide open throttle. Haven't been back to the track, but it feels like a 10hp change (probably due to the headers). Granted my car is an LT1, but I think the results would be very similar for LS1s.
As far as the sound without a Cat, I don't think it sounds that "horrible". However, between shifts you will definitely notice that unique race-car "after-bark", and you will notice the growl with some exhaust popping on sustained hard engine deceleration, when the bypass is used. This would get on your nerves if it were continuous, but with an electric cutout, you can be relatively stealth when you want and seriously growl when you want.
If you have the dollars, put a Borla on it and install an electric cutout. You won't be able to wipe the grin off your face.

Changing the plates is easy. Just look behind your rear passenger tire, you should see a flange holding your tip on with three bolts. Undo the bolts, change plates, reinstall bolts and you're done my friend.
