Blown engine? Tapping and squeaking after track.

I went to the track and ran 12.1 @ 125 on street tires with a 100 shot on torquer v3 car.

Cooled down, went again, bad launch, aborted that run and went again.

Strong run but my engine stalled at the end on decel. I heard some metal noises inside the engine, and it kept dieing. we noticed it is squeaking and tapping. I feel the tapping in my shifter. Fueling seemed alright on the way home but it struggled with rpms.

I drove it home, 40 miles, it made it.

Did i kill a bearing? Or is it a bad lifter? I checked rockers and springs, they are all good.

Here's a couple vids of it

Spun bearing, definitely not a lifter. That sounds horrible, i'm shocked you made it 40 miles, where's the oil pressure at?

I've got a buddy's car out in the shop now that did the same thing. I'll post up when I get the motor out and open with a damage report.

Sounds like a bent rod.

Sounds like a seriously f-ed up engine. Hope you had a buildup you have been looking to do because I think you have a rebuild in your future. good luck. Let us know what you find once you open it up. Take off the oil pan and see what you find in the bottom.

The reason why I said bent rod is because that's exactly how my engine sounded after I bent a rod.

Well I got my buddys' engine apart. Spun 5 and 6 rod bearings.
Root cause was the double roller timing set moving the oil pump forward and causing misalignment of the tube to pump and the dreaded pickup tube o ring failure.

Al, i know this is a little off subject but have you heard of this? http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/genera...gines-brp.html It's a pickup tube girdle, i made my own in about an hour, no more pickup tube failures!

yep, and it's totally unnecessary. If installed correctly the o-ring can't fail. It's a suction tube so it's not ''pressurized'' and the vacuum is small and the pump doesn't move neither does the tube so there's no forces at play here either. The only failures are from incorrect installation causing the ring to get smashed or cut.
