Best Spark Plugs???

For my baby...I want something not too expensive and reliable at the same time. Wat brands and around how much would they cost???

Z28luvr 05-16-2008 08:22 AM

NGK TR55s....found at autozone for about 1.79

WS6NIGHTMARE 05-18-2008 02:51 PM

^^^Yep. Thats all ya need.

ManicHaze 05-20-2008 02:17 AM

+2 for TR55's. I'd also do wires at the same time if you haven't already.

2000GTP 05-20-2008 07:44 AM

I like the NGKs alot too. The copper conductor style will not have as long of a service life versus the iridium ones, but they are alot cheaper though.

CamaroFan71 05-23-2008 01:30 AM

Ive always had GREAT luck with Bosch plugs.

Just to piggyback on this.. Allow me to throw another question out there... Wires huh? Well what would be some good ones? I would love to get some to match the color of my car. Hugger Orange is not the most common of color for plug wires.

I am also aware that i could reasearch it but whilst i am at work it is much more enjoyable just to pose these questions on here.

I would put a set of TR-55 plugs in with MSD wires. I have seen some durability issues with other brands of wires but the MSD's always hold up well.

jayare00 05-29-2008 09:00 PM

anyone like acdelco plugs? there like 7 a piece but thats what i put in my car

AL SS590 M6 05-30-2008 07:19 AM

In a stocker for daily driving like our 98SS or the 03 'vette I use the Iridium Delcos.
For the built h/c 00 Formula it's NGK copper.

Hey guys,

one question about this theme.
Ill order next days some stuff from summit to germany and i would like to buy new sparkplugs too.

I find the follow one:CLICK ME

Are these Irridium ones better then Platin or is it needless to buy spark plugs that cost so mutch? All i want is verry good ones.

I must order yll my stuff at summit, because i pay mutch for shipping :(

NukeFPE 06-11-2008 09:25 AM

I always swore by the Bosch +4 plugs. My LT1's & Vortec engines love them. My 2000 SS did not like them. Someone pointed me to a GM Service bulletin that recommends AC Iridium plugs gaped at 0.40 instead of the 0.60. I made the change & the car idles & runs great! Anyone have or see that service bulletin?

JACK RABBITz 06-11-2008 03:01 PM

Hm, when i correct understand, then are Irridium ones better then Platin!?

Can anyone tell me please if this sparkplugs: CLICK ME are good for my 99 Z28 or exist any better ones?
I cant make a mistake, shipping to germany is mutch, so i must be shure to buy the right ones.

Thanks.

Marc85Z28 really helped me out here.

Thanks for your help.

I will combine the knowledge:

You have still rough start problems with your Bosch Plugs and change it to Iridium ACF 41-985 (THIS ONEs?) - 5.95 each. Now you dont have problems and your LS1 runs fine. I hope i read it with my not so good english correct.

MARC85Z28 sayd in the other Thread (the link you post), that the more sensible Corvette LS1 runs better with Iridium NGK TR55. There im confused, i found this one: Iridium - NGK TR55IX - 7.39 each and this one Nickel alloy - NGK TR55 - 2.39 each (V-Power Series) and this one Platinum - NGK TR55GP - 2.99 each (G-Power Series).

The reason why im confused is, that no one here in germany have knowledge about that and a mistake will cost a lot of money, because shipping is verry mutch. The Plugs MARC85Z28 are talking about, are Iridium TR55 (in connection with the "GMs TSB 03-06-04-060A"). The only one Iridium NGK TR55 ive found is the first one: NGK TR55IX Iridium NGK TR55IX - 7.39 each

The next problem is, i dont feel good, if i must change with a hammer and distanceplates any spaces or what mean "gapped at .040"? I think i dont understand correctly.

Sorry for my crazy questions ;)

EDIT: I will change the Plugwires too. Must i know something about or can i buy everyone ive find?

Jack
Order the AC Delco Iridium AC 41-985 plugs. They are gapped (yes gapped means spaced correclty between the electrode and the ground strap)correctly as they come and will work well for a long time for you.
Any name brand plug wire set will do fine. I use stock wires on the Corvette and 98 Camaro and have Magnecore wires on the 2000 Firebird drag car in my signature.

NukeFPE 06-12-2008 09:11 AM

Jack,

X2 what Al said. I am using the AC Delco Iridium AC 41-985 plugs. They work just fine, best my car ever idle or ran. Also note in the link, the discussion about the Mass Air Flow (MAF) cleaner made by CRC. The stuff really works & you can find whole discussions about it on this message board.

JACK RABBITz 06-12-2008 10:10 AM

OK, thanks guys.
Sometimes its hard with my not so good english to understand all things correctly :shame:

But this theme is interest too, because i use a grenatelli MAF.

Big thanks!
