The BEST LT Headers?

I have a 2000 SS and i want to buy headers real soon. I live in cali, but i will figure out a way to pass smog. But i wanna see whats the best LT headers for around $500-$850 with a y-pipe. Any suggestions and HP gains? I already have a cut-out so im ready for the real power. And what the hell is EGR and Air or some **** like that? Do i need those?

Re: The BEST LT Headers?

Did you try searching?? There's tons of header threads on here...

I've heard, Pacesetters, Kooks and Jet Hot.......All LT's....Y-pipes aren't a problem....SLP makes good coated headers but they have ground clearance problems, and expensive, but $1200 for a kit W/ Y-pipe, cats, O2 sensor extensoins, and install kit, not bad IMO........ALL, SOLID 20-35HP gain.....

You can get them made w/ or w/out, EGR provisions (Exhaust Gas Re-circulation)....AIR.....you have an air pump mounted, I believe, in the front left of your car. It adds air into either the manifolds or down near the cats to aid in emmissions reduction... ALL emissions related...If you live in Cali, I'd suggest keeping them hooked up. As I understand they are STRICT on emissions.....

Hope that helps...

Re: The BEST LT Headers?

given the same size primaries and the same size collectors all LTs will give the same results.

the difference is in the quality of the material, fabrication and finish

i paid $600 for ceramic coated LTs, off road ypipe, o2 extensions, gaskets, and clamps.......flowtechs....
they were on sale then, so maybe add $50 now

because you have to get cats (assuming) you'll probably have to get one of the budget LTs....flowtech or pacesetter...and then have a custom catted Ypipe made. should stay in your budget.

for pics and install guide on my flowtechs check out page 2 (pics) and 11 (install guide) on my cardomain site in the signature

Re: The BEST LT Headers?

We are running a special on the Pacesetter headers and our y-pipes(both off-road and catted). We have the coated Pacesetters and our ORY for $500 +shipping or the coated Pacesetters and our catted y-pipe for $700 + shipping. We also have O2 extensions for $50 and O2 simulators for $89.99. I'm running a set of the Pacesetters and I am very happy with them. Give us a call or email us if you have any questions!

Thanks!

Re: The BEST LT Headers?

I replaced my hooker LT's with some Stainlessworks LT's and I am totally happy. The final fit is 10x better (although they were also 10x harder to install) but they look great, they fit great and I never have to worry about them rusting.

Qtp's- stainless steel( t 304), and you have the option of the high velocity merge, with 3 choices for a y pipe off road, off road with cut outs, or y pipe with cats. They are more expensive, but they will out last your car probably.

Another vote for QTPs. They are the best. Nothin else compares and makes the most power period!

Re: The BEST LT Headers?

When installing LT headers you need 2 front o2 extensions right? I plan on getting the rear ones deleted out of the PCM. Will I need a 12" or a 24" extension?

Can anyone tell me which one I'll need?

I'm guessing I need the flat 24" front extensions? It's the Oxygen Sensor Extension, 24" Flat 4-Pin for 94-97. I need 2 right?
