Bad Lid?

Hey guys,

I bought a Whisper Lid and a K&N filter last year for one of the first mods to my WS6. Everything else on the car was stock at the time, except a short-shift.

Ever since I bought this damn lid, I have NEVER been able to get it to stay clamped down. One clamp ALWAYS pops off a few seconds after I put it on, no matter how I arrange it. And it also looks like its bowing slightly at the point of the clamp, as if its being forced down.

Is there a possibility its been mis-machined? I'm lost here. I have messed with it for hours before, and I don't think it's user error. I'm sure its too late now to try and return it or see if it can be swapped out. Shame on me for waiting so long I guess.

What you all think? Should I look into a new lid? or am I just pretty dumb and I am doing something wrong? Thanks as always for your help!

mine does the same thing too, except the clamp stays on for a while (couple min.)then pops off. I just put a little piece of black electrical tape on the clamp and taped it down- you can't really tell unless your looking for it. It eliminates the frustration thats for sure.
oh mine is the SLP lid btw.

On the Whisper make sure the upper lip of the lid is behind the lower lip (center front) of the air box.

I have the SLP lid also, and I straightened the clamp a bit with some pliers and it hasn't popped off since.

That's why I asked for a pic to see if things were sitting where they are supposed to.

Make sure the air filter is seated properly. There is a platic piece inside the lower airbox that can push up on the filter if the fins on the filter sometimes, making the rubber gasket on the outsides of the filter to push up against the airbox, if you post a picture with the lid off, I can show you what I mean.
