HELP SLP Underdrive Pulley

So here is an interesting case, I had SLP headers and Y pipe installed, and I had also ordered a SLP under drive pulley, the performance shop installed the parts except the pulley because they said it was the wrong part and that there was no way that it would fit. I called Summit Parts and SLP and they both say that the part is correct??? What gives??? Is it possible that the performance shop didn't know what they where doing?? They are known and work on all kinds of American muscle, plus they have been around for about 20 years??? Im annoyed and confused.

Re: HELP SLP Underdrive Pulley

Post up a pic and part number of the pulley. C5 and F-Body pullies are different, so I suppose it's possible the wrong pulley could have been placed in the wrong box...

Did you get if from Summit, SLP, or somewhere else?

Re: HELP SLP Underdrive Pulley

Cant get pics uploaded?
Anyway the part number is PBU 1480-SS25

The guy from the performance shop swears it won't fit??, he even told me to take it to him and he would tear down the car just to show me that it doesn't fit.

Re: HELP SLP Underdrive Pulley

SLP's pulley is actually a Powerbond pulley (which is what I have) and the part number matches what's on the box of mine...

Without seeing a picture of the pulley that's in your box, I can't say why your shop says it won't fit. The ONLY thing I can think of on why it wouldn't is if someone accidentally packed a C5 pulley in...like if it was a customer return or something...

This is what the LS1 FBody pulley is supposed to look like:

...and this is what the C5 pulley is supposed to look like:

Re: HELP SLP Underdrive Pulley UPDATE

So I took the car and the pulley to another shop and they installed it in 1 1/2. Go figure right? Why couldn't the first shop just say we don't or can't install it???

Assuming that is rhetorical question born out of frustration. But as most of us on this forum have learned long ago, if you want something done right...

Yes it was a rhetorical questions. Soon I will have the place and tools to do my mods myself, but at the time I don't have the necessary tools or location.
