How come there are stores that sell autotap 5.0 for $350? when you can just buy the cable for 120 and download 5.0 for free? i never knew you could do that...

so i just downloaded autotap to take a llok at what it can do(with no cable of course), but i wanted to look. it asks for a registration code in the beginning, but it says you can use it without registering. So even without it registered, you can have full utilization of all its functions??? Wheres the best place to get a cable, im going to buy one today...

OK, I just talked to someone at AT, and he said that if you dont register the product, then you can only log data for 5 seconds before it disconnects. Does someone out there have EFI Live V5.0, and want to give up a registration code? And do all versions of autotap use the same cable???

Question

So is the EFI live 5.0 basically the same as LS1edit?

No, autotap isnt really like ls1 edit. Ive never seen ls1 edot, but I know that you can do pretty much anything with it. delete trouble codes permanently and adjust fuel/timing curves. autotap lets you see real time readouts of all the sensors, and 5.0 pro w/ bidirectional controls will let you temporarily change things, but the changes go back to normal after you turn the car off. I suppose its somewhat like it though...
