another Hypertch PP3 question?

Hey guys,

My damn SES light came on and I have no idea why. Anyway, I have tuned it with my Hypertech PP.

Do I have to return it back to stock programming if I want to run a diagnostics check?

I don't have an warranty on the car, just in case you are wondering.

Make sure you dont have a blown fuse. I never had problems with it. you might want to call thier help line:D

I don't think my SES is related to me using the HPP. I've had it for a few weeks now with no problem. I just drove back from out of town. (around 350 miles round trip)

But I want to know if I need to return it back to stock programming for a diagnostics check?

I'll go ahead and check my fuses, everything seems to be working fine though.

You shouldnt have to .

Yes, you will need to pull the programming.

Read their manual - they mention that the dealerships (anybody's really) diagnostic equipment is geared to look for stock programming.

The HPP3 Power Programming could cause some diagnostic issues , and given how easy it is to remove & install - why take the chance ?

That's how I do it w/ my car.

If you're just running AutoTap or getting AutoZone to scan the codes for you, there's no need to remove the HPP tuning.

However, if you take it to the dealer ... for ANY reason ... remove the HPP tuning. Even if you take it in for an oil change, most dealers scan the codes real quick to ensure there is nothing else wrong. (At least the dealers in Memphis). If the scan tool doesn't recognize the tuning, which it won't if you have HPP tuning installed, then they will reflash the PCM with the latest update. If that happens, you will have to get Hypertech to unlock your programmer, and they will only do that if you are the original owner of the tuner.

to see if it really is a problem ( the light ), reset the ECM and see if the light comes back on again. But unistall the HPP3 first. Then reinstall it if the light doesn't come back on.
