Am I hitting the rev limiter?

When I'm on the highway, say going about 65-70 MPh and I floor it, it's like the engine shuts off until it raises a gear. Am I hiting the rev limiter???? Shouldn't the PCM shift the tranny before that happens?

Thanks,

Jim

if your an m6 u might hit the rev limiter in like 2nd gear doing those speeds.. i cant see why an a4 would hit the rev limiter when cruising at 65-70 mph (thats gonna be th gear) and when you punch it, it might dowshift to 3rd or whatever.. you shouldnt be hitting the rev limiter... that doesnt make sense..

sounds more like a fuel cut off parameter in the pcm. ????

An A4 could hit the rev limiter if it's slipping.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry... The engine doesn't stop, the fuel get's cut off. Sorta like a governor.

Any ideas why that is? I bought the car used, but I don't think the programming has been changed or anything like that. Think that tranny is slipping??

Thanks,

Jim
