2002 Camaro Transmission!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok i purchased a 02 Camaro z28 Auto! Sence i have had the car i put 4000 miles on it and it has been in the shop 3 times. 1st time i had no second gear so they replaced the 2nd gear clutch and the band. So i got it back and it worked great for about 200 miles then the same thing.... They replaced the clutch again and the second gear band again and they test drove it and it broke again... So they went back to the drawing board. They said it was the CASE!!! so they replaced the case and put all the old parts in.... Then it lasted about 800miles.. AND THE SAME THING HAPPEND!!!!!! So now they tore it apart again and they said ok we are going to replace the whole unit with a SRTA tranny. They did and it worked for about 1000miles and it happend AGAIN!!!! So they contacted GM tech support and they said it was the Computer and some transmission electronics. So they replaced the insides of the tranny again and the electronics and now i have it back!! the car now just turned 4000 miles. Has anyone else had a problem like this????? please let me know.. i need all the help i can get... Thanks...

Is yours an AUTO or a 6-Speed? And if an Auto? when you get on it does it break the tires loose in second? Or does it shift HARD? i dont think my car runs right at all.. I want to get rid of it for a new one!!

I've had mine for a little more than 7 months without any problems. It has 11,000 miles on it and is an a4.

i think that all of the companies auto trannies are getting worse instead of better. you should have 0 problems for at least a 100,000 miles, not 1000 miles. good luck w/the tranny.

3 times for the exact same problem in one year is lemon law in the state of michigan, you should check into that.

Lemon law on that...If they tell you its a different problem each time...Tell them you didn't just pay 30,000 for it to be in the shop more then you are able to drive it. Aside from the fact that it WOULD fall under the lemon law...Dealer should let you know of this if they are worth anything...Hey sir your car is a lemon let US take care of you and get you something that runs and you won't have this problem because we vaule you as a customer and we have a rep to keep...How does that sound? They get there money back anyway

2 friends of mine have 2002's. One has a WS6 and one a Formula. Both have real problems getting the gear to go into 3rd at the track and during normal driving. They heard that GM played with the manual T56 and now the tranies are having lots of trouble shifting.

I would of (and still would) insist on a NEW Tranny, not a SRTA (rebuilt). 30K is almost a lot of money.

Tranny's are a little bit like engines. Some people get factory freaks with gobbs of HP, others get lemons.

Personnaly I got a nice stable engine, rather low stock rwhp #s (279) and a tanny that has been golden - 22,000 miles and over 250 passes, put a Yank 3200 TC in about 12,000 miles ago ... haven't had a a lick of trouble.

Maybe it's becuase mine was built on a Wednesday http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

Definately sounds like a lemon. The only problem I have has has been the plastic lug nut covers spun off the rear wheels. I have 10,500 miles on my A4 3.23, and I drive it pretty hard. Good luck, I hope they get you fixed!

If it screws up again use the lemon law on it. Keep all your reciepts. They will have to give you a new tranny if it keeps screwing up.
