z28 manual v8 transplant
I'm taking the engine out of a '96 t top z28 with a manual transmission and putting it into the body of a '95 drop top ss v6 automatic. Couple issues...
I can't find a heating/cooling system diagram and I've got a part with an unknown origin, ha. Its printed with CAMOPLAST 10245225, a black arm with an elbow, postive its part of the vent system but don't know where it exactly it came from...ha. Also, how do I reprogram the computer from the t top so I can operate the drop top? Finally, is a cold air intake the best option to deal with overheating or is there a better solution? I'd appreciate any help you could offer, thank you! |
Re: z28 manual v8 transplant
Couple problems:
No such thing as a “drop top ss v6”. SS wasn’t introduced until 96, and all SS’s are powered by an LT1 V8, prepped by SLP. When you swap the V8 into a V6 car, you need to also swap the V8 K-member from the 96. A cold air intake has nothing to do with the cooling system, or making the engine run cooler. It supplies cooler air to the intake manifold so the engine can mak a bit more power. The PCM does not control the convertible top - just the engine and trans. The switch and wiring that is already in the 95 controls the top. |
