Fog light mod possibility

I dont know if any of you have done this but i just took off my foglight to replace the bulb... I noticed that inside the housing , there is a black t hing that blocks almost all of the light from exiting the bulb. HAs anyone removed this with any success in getting brighter more dispersed lighting or is it have a purpose?

I dont have a camaro, so I don't have a real clear picture in my mind, but I'm pretty sure thats a reflector, without it the light wont work very well....

Re: Fog light mod possibility

It's a shield to cut down on glare for other drivers. It will adversley affect the beam pattern, more light scatter and less effective light on the road. I'd suggest a conversion to FF50 or FF75 fog lights from Hella. My FF50s are better than the original fogs and lowbeams. There are a number of threads on this, do a search for "FF75" In driving light version, they are an excellent upgrade to the stock sealed beams. If you ever break a fog housing, the GM replacements are $100 each so you could get a pair of FF50s or 75s for less than half the price.

If you want to see what the FF50s look like on a '94, let me know. I can e-mail you some pics.

I might think about the ff50s. The foglight i changed housing was broken. I cleaned it up and used a few types of glue to seal it. Ill see how it holds up and if it doesn't, ill switch.
