There are people around here that have taken that part out an replaced it with switches, so someone has to have them lying around.

If no luck, junk yard, or some of the online f-body parts places

I have it but it's SLIGHTLY damaged by a drill... I'd send it to you if you want it for like $5... I'm taking it out for a switch plate...

I would just cut a hole in the back of that pocket for the wires to run through. Then i would just cut a piece of plastic out the shape of the plastic pocket then glue it one. Then you have a nice flat panel to put switches in. Depending upon what you want to do, i think convertibles have a panel with a switch for the top that fits right in there. You could get one of those and use that switch for what you want.

 

hmm..sounds like a plan.. guess i'll do that! For now i put my USB-Serial Converter in that spot untill i can get something else to fill the space! What do you guys think about painting the center console to match the rest of the interior! The center console is black and the rest is gray! Is there a special paint i can buy to do this or what? It looks kinda goofy right now!

I have a 97+ Gray console in mine that i wouldn't mind having black. I would trade you straight up. I painted the top insert black but is actually gray underneathe that. I bet some paint thinner would take it right off. I have a pic of it on the last page of my sig.

I though the LS1 camaro consoles were different...i had a thread on that a while back!...I just looked at the pic of it in your sig...what kinda paint did you use to paint it? I might just do that?!!

 

I believe all 97+ consoles are the same and thats what i have. I'm running it with my Trans Am dash no problems. I just used some duplicolor Flat black vinyl/plastic paint. I used some bulldog plastic cleaner on it, then duplicolor adhesion promotor spray then the paint. I wouldn't paint the console base, its to prone to scratching, especially by the seat belts.

 

Yes... all 97 F-Body + Consoles are the same...

If you're going to have a Lighted Switch Plate let me suggest you use Plexi Glass... You can get it for like $4.00 at Lowes or Home Depot and have it cut right to fit... Looks real nice at night... I'll get you some pic's if I can...

 

Another option! This is the location for the converible top switch on the convertibles. So you can purchase the bazel from Chevy, a perfect match. It will have one hole for the sw already in it, plus there is room for at least two more.
