Accelerated Slip Regulation? I think...

TCS on the Pontiacs is Traction Control System..

both are the same thing

Does having the traction control OFF really make that big of a difference with acceleration?

SFB767 04-19-2004 07:24 PM

It's hard to say.

With the ASR on, the orange LOW TRAC light will come on, the system will substantially reduce engine power and push the gas pedal back at your foot if you spin the tires good enough. This is to slow the car down and prevent you from smashing into something, because if you spin the tires fast enough and don't know what you're doing, it might not be pretty because these cars can get out of control easily.

To me, when I accelerate with it off, the car feels more free, but it could be psychological seeing how I actually know what it does.

Then again, my best time (in sig.) was made with it on and my best MPH was made with it off, so go figure.

I just leave it on for driving and I occasionally turn it off when on the road and at the track.

Kidding dude, what ever it stands for it does help out a ton when it snows a little. I turn it off unless it rains or snows.

i cant even use my ASR in the snow, i cant get the car to move from a stop. at least in heavy snow covering the ground. plus its fun when the backend steps out at every redlight a little bit with out having to really hit the gas. :D
