Vats issues

I bought a vats bypass module .It only wants to work when it wants too. Sometimes it will start right up other times it don't receive the 30 hz fuel enable signal any suggestions

Re: Vats issues

First: What year is the car? ok, 93, nevermind.
Second: Does the engine starter crank? And is the LED on the module lit?
Third: How do you know the ECM/PCM doesn't receive the signal?

Re: Vats issues

It cranks and the module is lit. Sometimes it works sometimes it don't and my injectors don't engage. My code reader is giving me the vats code again .I also have a resistor bypassing the key/ignition switch that matches my key. The car starts and runs good once in a while but if you shut it off you have to fight with it to get fuel enable signal

Re: Vats issues

It sounds like there is a loose connection outside or inside the module. Recheck the wiring first.

Re: Vats issues

How good are the connections you made when you installed the module?

Connections seem ok .It just would work here and there .Now its not working at all. The module is blinking like it should but the car still won't start

i just baught a new key.had to go to the dealership to get the vat# and key code then had a ;ocksmith make me a new one. all in all 65$ but i dont need to pay for my vat code or key code since i have them now. why did u bypass it anyway? seem easier to have the car stolen this way due to it unlocking the steering wheel.

Niether VATS nor the resistor in the key have anything to do with “(locking or) unlocking the steering wheel”. VATS interrupts the starter solenoid circuit and cuts off the fuel system.

Re: Vats issues

I bypassed it because its a nightmare I want gone .Its twitchy and leaves you stranded .I know people who replaced and fixed the vats correctly just to have issues later on . I'm not worried about anyone stealing it .Where I'm from it just don't happen enough to worry
