Can you remove the traction control and still keep the abs system?

What do you mean by "remove" ? You know you can always disable it.

Im pretty sure he means get rid of the HUGE UGLY motor that sits on the valve cover. Ive been wondering the same thing myself for quite a while, and have yet to get a real answer. Someone once mentioned simply adding a resistor to fool the comp into thinking it was still attached, but that never panned out. Ive often contemplated simply moving the motor somewhere else in teh engine bay, like it is on LS1 cars, but there isnt a nice location in an LT1 engine bay like there is in an LS1 bay, cuz of the power steering pump location on the LT1. If you figure anything out, PLEASE let me know.
(and if you have an LS1 car, then disregard all of this)

I followed this procedure for my 97' T/A
You need two cables:
Throttle #12550676
Cruse Cable #12550719

I haven't driven the car yet as it's up on stands, but I do believe the light will stay on in the dash. I removed the button in the console also b/c I added a guauge there.
I have an SLP line lock, but I did not touch the ABS unit which is outlined in the first part of that tutorial.
I haven't driven the car, but no braking should change if you leave the ABS alone. I just wanted to get rid of the Traction control box.

Im pretty sure that you wont have ABS anymore. People have done this before and after simply removing the TCS box, they no longer have ABS. Good luck though.

If you are looking at dection #6 in the tutorial, no where in those directions do you go anywhere near the ABS. Disconnect the throttle and cruise cables, remove box on top of valve cover, connect new throttle cable and cruise control cables.

I really just want to get rid of the TC box. i'll keep the abs but if it does not work after the TC is removed then there is no piont in keeping it.
It would be a waste and i could lose about 15 lbs.

It has to do with the computer, not the actual ABS system.Originally Posted by 9T7 Trans Am

its just that when i disconnected my traction control. the ABS inop light came on. that just tells me that the abs system would not work.
