So I bought a Z28 yesterday...

Yup. $1500.

It was a spur-of-the-moment purchase. A friend's friends wrecked her black Z28 (1994) and she had it parked... it looked totaled. The insurance company was going to total it, and they had the option to buy it back for $1300. I told them I'd give them $1500 for the car. A deal!

My plan was to pull the hood, pull the rear QP, pull the hatch, and possibly pull the engine... part the rest out. I got her towed home for $43.15, less than a mile from where the car was parked. Got home, jacked her up, and pulled the front tire off.

NO DAMAGE to the frame. The spindle is snapped, and a tie rod needs to be replaced. That's all (aside from the damaged bumper and driver fender, no big deal.) I was outside, in the dark, last night pulling things apart, ripping off the fender and started to rip the bumper off, but it got too late.

Long story short, for a grand total of $1,543.15 I purchased a Z28.

Spindle - $40 shipped.
Tie Rod - $20 shipped.
Bumper - Part from my v6. (will replace later - $200)
Fender - Part from my v6. (will replace later - $150)

Grand total to have a running, nice looking Z28 - $1,603.15

Will post pics later.

SWEET deal !

Very odd that they would total it for so little damage.
I mean, even with parts and labor, I don't see how that could possibly exceed the NADA value of the car.

Does it have a salvage title on it now? And do you know how to go about fixing that ? :)
