only reason that I believe its a switch is that the working door......well doesnt work either, but if it does turn out to be a bad motor I have another one just that I have no idea how to get it out or in due to the rivets

You just drill the rivets out.

you just use bolts to hold it in, use locktite if worried

You can either go to a hardware store and get a couple of bolts, or you can go get a rivet gun at like harbor freight for $20.
