shifter boot question

okay after a year of not being able to get my hands on a shifter boot for my 94 console for a six speed I had some cross reference questions

are the shift boots the same between v6 and v8 cars

and are the shift boots the same between ls1 and lt1 firebirds

I already know that a camaro shift boot won't work to my dismay after buying it and it not working in the console plate

Have the discontinued selling them at the dealership?

Personally I would swap out the console to a 98 up console. The boot on the 93-97 sucks!

I don't know about the Pontiac side, but all manual Camaros, M5 and M6, 93-02, have the same shift boot. The GM part number is 17997785, and is still available through the dealer. I assume GM used the same boot for the Firebirds, but don't quote me on that. You could always get a leather shift boot from one of the supporting vendors on this site.

Okay well I was confused then because you said you cannot find one what you mean is you cannot find one used?

They sell them at the dealer so you CAN find one just not the one you want.

I believe all the models are the same also. The console is not different between them so the M5 and M6 boots should be the same. Also if you just need the plastic then you really should not have any issue.

Have you contacted RedlineGoods.com

They are supporting Vendor of the site, and list Shift Boot Brackets for all years

Looks to be $19....

Ok, so you were only looking for the lock ring? Well that's different. I believe I've seen someone on LS1tech.com that was making metal boot rings for like $20. Someone pitch in if you know who I'm talking about.

The boot bracket is listed on the Redline page linked above. Wait for the page to load (it was pretty slow) and scroll to the bottom. The boot bracket is listed as $19 just like 96 Z 28 said.
