Re: REmote Start?

My Dad & Sister have it in their cars; but I don't have it in my car or my truck

It's handy in winter time to start the car from inside to warm it up . . . but they seem to be finicky to install and if you/your installer isn't so good they are very problematic

Re: REmote Start?

it doesnt make you go faster so i dont think they're very useful.

unless you like to impress your friends with your "bling bling" and "snazzy shiznit" then go for it.

Re: REmote Start?

I just had an Autopage alarm installed on my Z28. I had the option of going with a remote starter but decided against it becuse I figured if I'm going to start the car, I'm going to be inside of it. It's cool, you'll probably impress a few people, for me it wasn't worth the extra cash. But hey, if you've got the cash for it I guess go for it.

Now, I thought those spinner thingies was the dumbest. This could be a whole new subject, sorry about that. Remote start? I always leave my T56 in the gear I will need to move the car when I start it. Like, reverse in my driveway. I don't think a remote start would be advisable.

Re: REmote Start?

I put one on my daily driver (92 Isuzu Trooper), it's great to get in in the wintertime and have it already warm in there, or cool in the summer. But for the T/A? Nah. Like Mustang said, if I start the T/A, I'm gonna be in it.

Re: REmote Start?

Ya I think it would be good for the winter but I am not much for bling. It only works for auto trans. I think it would be kinda cool if I had nothing else to do with my money.

Re: REmote Start?

you can get some that work with a stick shift, i think they have something else on them that you have to install that will only attempt to start the car if it is in nuetral

I have one on my car, somewhat easy to install yourself if you have a multimeter.

i dont have a loud exhaust system yet, but once i get one and get my car able to start up normally i would think it would be great to use it when your in a parking lot with people standing near the car, scare them good...

the one thing i dont like is that you might have to disable vats to get it to work.

Re: REmote Start?

don't you have to start it with the remote, then restart it with a key when you get in?? if so...isn't is senseless?

Re: REmote Start?

no, you start it with the remote, then when you get into the car you just put the key in to the on positon and go.

mine also has this thing where after ten minutes or when the brake is pressed (with key out) it will shut off. and also it can charge the battery back up if it gets too low.

and a valet switch that will shut it off.

Re: REmote Start?

If they had one that came with a wristwatch where I could talk to my car and tell it to come get me when I was in trouble I'd get one.
