rear end longevity

so i want to beat some bitch asses that claim they can beat my car this summer and i want to install a CC305 cam and a torque converter and some new rear gears. I was thinking like 3.73s so i could get some good torque to the ground without sacrificing too much grip. ill be running BFG KDWS so no drag radials or anything, what will the longevity of my rear end be?

cam + current mods + torque converter + gears = break?

A4's while they can still break a 10bolt are much much easier on the rearend then an M6 could ever be
my guess is you would be fine to install those mods and go whoop on "some bitch asses";) :D

fyi, i knew a fella here running 10.60's with a 150 shot spraying off the line with the stock 10bolt and an A4 cutting 1.44 60ft times, he shot 2 rods thru the side of his block but he never had any troubles with his 10bolt, 3.23 geared '00 Pontiac Firehawk

i say go for it

joe overton is awesome

the lope on your car is badass, what kind of cam did you do with that? im thinking CC305 wont give me too much lope and good streetable HP for the highway trips to austin and back.

you think i could pull off a cam of that size without new valve springs or RRs? any serious benefits to those?

i want to keep install prices down so if they arent nesicary i dont think i want to pay for them.

PS - i just recently had my heads resurfaced and a valve job done at 74,000 miles. new water pump and intake/head gaskets

lol, yeah Joe is a stand up guy:)
its a "decent sized cam" ;)

if doing a cam... springs, retainers and locks are an absolute minimum for longevity reliability and maximum power, i would also look into a set of full roller rockers too
the 305 is a good proven cam with good street manners and decnt power throughout the entire rpm band but explore all options available before making a final decision on what you can live with:)
there is a butt load of chocies out there!!

so you gonna do the other stuff too or what?

in the future id like to either do a LT4 setup with intake and heads with the posibility of 383 or just port and polish my current heads and build the current engine without much change to the bottom end. its up for grabs right now all i know is i want a different cam this summer, then think about the other stuff when i have a career income.
