how do your cars handle in the rain???? i have yet to drive my car in the rain, but it has 245 tires on it, and they are performance, how owuld you expect it to handle?

they're okay in the rain, just dont speed and dont test if you have a lead foot and you'll be okay.

do performance tires have a higher tendancy to hydroplane??? im going to be on the express way, so most of the way there is all straight, but i havne't driven it in the rain so im not sure how it handles yet :D

You will be fine as long as you dont drive it like you stole it.
Stay off the gas when you are turning and go easy until you get moving. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GSC tires which are high performance and they handle fantastic in the rain.

ok cool, im pretty sure the rain will clear up its not supposed to rain here, but where im going it is, ill pick up some rain-x and rain-x my windshields :D

these cars will break the tires loose and turn tail in a corner on dry pavement....imagine them with 1/4 the traction

just be careful

i honestly suggest finding a vacent parking lot and trying some "spirited" starts, stops and turns...just to learn the feeling

and remember...if it starts to slide out on ya...let of the gas, turn into the slide...AND STAY OFF THE BRAKE! the posi will catch fairly quickly and straighten you out if you aren't going too fast.

any chance you have ASR ...ie traction control? i call it my "keep myself out of trouble button"

i used to have a mustang GT, but i iknow the formula is a hell of a lot more powerful so ill watch it :D

You have to drive differently in the rain. The rearend is really light. I had some old SZ50s (245s) and I spun out from an offramp in the rain. It was a redlight...stepped on it..not too hard I thought, but partly into the turn, tires lost grip and did a 450. Good thing it was at a light, so no on-coming traffic. Yeah the tires were old, but the SZ50s are supposed to great wet traction. Oh year, no traction control either...just the stupid light that flashes "low traction"...well, not crap!!

Got F1 GS-D3s not, but haven't had any rain.

But just like others say...drive differenly in the rain.

Yay, what everyone els said, along with you will even loose a race to a K car if you try to race because you wont get traction.

When it rains, I take it easy and just sit back, and keep good tires all around, the extra cost of keeping up on tires is cheeper then the insurance deductible.

what about rear end weight, any of you put sandbags or anything in the back to keep traction?

I did sandbags in my old 3rd gen. Wet traction isn't as bad in 4th gens from my experience.

My advice to you is to go to an empty parking lot when it's wet and swing your rear-end around if you haven't already. Don't do it enough so you think it's fun - just a few times. Let it scare the hell out of you, and remember that's what will happen if you get foolish on the road. Don't forget to add all the other cars, curbs, embankments, and ditches you'll find.

I think of it like I'm riding b-tch to the rain. Just boils down to getting to point A to point B safely. I have plenty of fun when it's dry. IMO with decent tires wet traction is sufficient.

yeah i save the fun for the dry pavement. im just askin cause im EXTREMELY new to my formula, and to GM cars in general, and wasn't sure how they handled in the rain etc....ill see how it goes :) thanks guys.
