Question on Brent's killswitch, for those that have done it...

Is the diode nessesary? I wired up the relay, but when the window button is in "UP" position, and I turn the key to "start" the power going through the window switch is killed. Causing the relay to de-energize. I noticed this by having a friend hold the relay while I hit the window up button (key in "on" position) the relay energized. Then while still holding the window up button, I turn the key to "start" and the relay I wired up de-energizes.

What can I do to keep the 12v constant while the key is in "start" position?

I have mine wired almost exactly as he has it shown and it works perfectly... has for almost 5 years now...

Although I have a few other tricks installed as well to prevent someone from driving off

Exactly why I cant figure out why the power stops while trying to start the car. You know like when youre radio is on, you turn the key to start, the radio turns off for a sec, then as soon as the key is back to the "on" position the radio turns back on. Im sure the diode isnt needed, but Ive got it wired exactly as he's got it on his site.

Basically, key to on position, hold down button, the relay energizes.
Key to start position, button still held down, relay de-energizes because of power loss to window.

How did you guys overcome that?

I wired mine the same as Brent, still no problem. Going on 5 years...if you don't get it solved, Brent is the guru! PM him and ask.
