Push start button?

Did anyone ever really find out how to do this? I know most likely the key would have to be in the ON position but its cool as hell turing on your car with the push of a button. Any kits or instructions on how to do this?

Re: Push start button?

You might want to check with a search on LS1tech.com. I remember seeing some threads on there about this and some guys even had some pics of their setups.

Re: Push start button?

All you have to do is run one wire to each side of the starter solinoid....and yes the key must be on in order to start your car........ I'v had to do this for a temp fix for a bad solinoid before...you can get a push botton from any auto store for less than $10......good luck....

Re: Push start button?

If you can read a schematic, it should be easy to figure out. If you cannot, you are going to need explicit instructions.

Re: Push start button?

I have a pic of the pushbutton, not of the wire diagram, but if you would like to see where I mounted mine, take a look, its in place of the cig lighter.

Re: Push start button?

It is pretty cool, a lot of gas station attendants ask me how I started my car. They fill the tank and dont see my hand turn a key and I get the same reaction every time. Definitely a good, cheap, and easy mod if you have the time and ability to do it.

Re: Push start button?

I have had a push button switch in my toolbox for over 20 years for turning over an engine from outside while alone. Put +12VDC to the small wire on a GM starter and the motor turns over...it's magic. Older cars used to have two small wires on the starter...one from the switch and one to give the ignition full voltage during startup.

Sorry, I am not into this mod in any way and don't plan on spending any time researching what needs to be done. I think a link was already posted above on how to do it.
Not trying to be snotty about it, just not something I am interested in. It's more at home on race car dashboard.

1stz28: I've had a remote starter switch in my toolbox for as long as I can remember. Just the thing for setting valve lash with solid lifter cams.

Re: Push start button?

But would that by pass the acctual starter circut on the key. I think it would be a great anti-theft device if you could find an easy accesable nonvisable place to mount the button.
