Lightbulb Price Check, 2 o2 and egr installed ?! ---

I am about to go to my local "car-x" and get 2 oxygen sensors replaced and an egr valve replaced. I am throwing codes for all 3 things , and dont have the place to work on it myself ( live in an apt. , get in trouble for oil changes ). I am supplying all the parts, how much should the labor be? Thanks ---

ps. when I ordered a replaceable egr valve I only got one peice....is that all I need to get the code to shut off? ( why are the egr block-off setups 3 peices? , are the other peices ok? ) . Thanks ---

The EGR valve itself is one piece. The block off plates are for the tube that go into the manifold and intake. That does not need to be replaced, but could probably be cleaned. The best thing to do is get the O2s checked to see if they are working properly. If they are good, why replace them. Have you checked any of this to see if it is working right, but just getting hung up on something?

I am actually throwing codes for a pre cat o2 and a post cat 02 , AND the egr valve. I just bought 2 o2's and the egr so I plan on getting them installed ASAP ---

Though I'm sure new O2 sensors will help anyway - you might want to make sure yours are bad.

Also, are the O2 sensors you bought AC Delco? If not - you may want them to be.

Finally - why not call the shop you plan to have service your car for a quote????

Another vote for using AC Delco O2 sensors.

Good point - however, every area is different - and within every area every shop is different. Call multiple shops - who cares if they're even one you plan on going to, could be 1,000 miles away - at least you'll get a variety of prices and know how ones closer to home compare. Seems like a PITA, but may be a good idea. Either way, maybe getting a quote first then posting the quote here would give us a better idea in deciding whether or no the price is fair -- it just may be hard to find someone who has had both of those done by a shop (e.g. someone may be familiar with O2 replacement labor costs - but have no clue about the EGR).
