P0332

Hey guys, so my 3.8 Camaro just hit code P0332, something related to low circuit/voltage to the knock sensor. The car does not perform any differently, so I just wanted to ask how long I could go like this before I get a chance to repair.

Re: P0332

What year is the car.... code definitions, and action taken when the code sets sometimes depend on the year of the car. In a generic sense, loss of the knock sensor may cause the PCM to retard ignition timing to avoid knock (detonation) damage to the engine,

"Signature" is always a good idea.

This is a 2002 Chevy Camaro, 3.8 engine (replaced with a series III block & heads).

Re: P0332

Are you still running the stock 2002 PCM with stock program? If so, the code references a failure of the Bank 2 knock sensor circuit. Could be faulty sensor or faulty wiring. Having this code isn't going to harm the engine, but the PCM may be pulling timing to avoid conditions that could cause knock. Pulling timing will generally reduce performance.

The checks on the system components are easy to do with a multi-meter.

If the replacement motor does not have dual knock sensors, or they were not replaced with the ones from your original engine, results may vary.

Re: P0332

It is throwing code P0174 alongside this one, lean bank 2. Could this be in response to reduce detonation?

Re: P0332

No. Why would the PCM lean out one bank in response to a faulty knock sensor? Running lean can cause detonation.

Sounds like you may have a wiring problem, if the O2 sensor wire and the knock sensor wire are in the same harness bundle.
