overheating issue
 

good day all,

this issue has been going on for some time and i dont know whats the problem, it happens mainly during this time of the year when the temp is high and reaches 120F.

when the engine has load on it and at around 2000rpm the temp slowly rises to the red line, it happens while in N as well with rpm at the 2k or above..

i checked the thermostat and its working perfectly, cleaned the radiator, inspected the hoses, replaced the air deflector, and even reprogrammed the PCM back to its stock condition.. the problem is still happening... the only thing i didnt do is replace the water pump...

i am currently having two codes P0118 and P0336, the first one is showing but the temp gauge is working and am able to get a reading on the scanner for the temp.

There are two coolant temp sensors. The one in the drivers side head feeds the dash gauge. The one in the water pump housing feeds the PCM and that's what the PCM bases the fan control on. The code isfor the sensor in the water pump housing, not the one that feeds the gauge.

What temp is the scanner indicating?

its indicating almost the same as the gauge, they both rise and fall at similar rates...

for example when the gauge shows 100C the scanner shows around 104C

If those sensors r good....just a stupid suggestion...chexk for leaks...and check the radiator cap....

the cap has been replaced and there are no leaks... already checked!

Clear the codes and see how fast P0118 comes back. If it's set, at some point there was an intermittent open circuit to the sensor that set the code. Check the harness wires for damage or a loose connection.
