You may want to try and diagnose the problem instead of replacing an expensive part like the differential. Jack the car up and spin one of the wheels, the wheel on the other side should turn in the opposite direction.

Is it going bald or are you burning it off?

Re: Only 1 tire going bald!!

perhaps he simply means wear on the one tire?

If you make a bunch of turns, and floor it, i could see that happening.

do you have a stock diff?

Actually, with limited slip differential, the tires should spin the SAME direction. To properly check limited slip, both tires should be off the ground. You will need a strong friend to hold one wheel, while you try to turn the other wheel with a torque wrench. I dont remember the exact slip-torque (torque reading before the diff. finally breaks free), but it should be pretty high. It should be easy to find the torque spec. with some simple research.

I'm surprised nobody has posted the obvoius...

Change the fluid and make sure you add the proper limited slip addative. Without the addative it does not work right and you will have one tire spin.

Actually this is a very popular misconception!!!!!!

The additive conditions the friction discs and helps them to SLIP!! Without the additive you tend to get "wheel hop" when going around corners.

At the dealership, we used to get guys that would add 2X or 3X the recommended amount of additive, thinking they were boosting the differential performance, when actually they were diminshing it!! LOL!!

Re: Only 1 tire going bald!!

Is there any specific wear pattern? (e.g. the edges are worn more than the center)

Or is it uniformly worn?
