More problems, car wont start
So when the car is cold, it takes a couple tries to start, but it runs and idles fine. It starts ok if the engine is warmed up (ie, if I turn the car off for a few minutes and restart it)
I looked at some old threads, but most people seem to think this is a security/key issue and I dont think thats it. The fuel filter is also new. Im thinking maybe the relays. Any thoughts? Thanks! |
if the key is the problem the security light will stay on. could be fuel check the pressure when it doesn't start, if there is pressure, than it's most likely electrical

Originally posted by SVT03 Sounds like a fuel pressure issue. I had the same problem with my 95 TA. Here is an easy test if you don't have a fuel pressure tester. Park nose up on a hill. Leave it for a few hours. If you can get the car to start while parked uphill, more than likely it is not fuel pressure related. If you can't get it started, pop it into neutral, and get it back to flat ground, or turned the other way on the grade. Then try to start it. If it starts right away, my guess is fuel pressure related. This is a free way of testing if you have no other means of testing. Tested and tried by me. I fully endorse this message. I assume no responsibilities if you perform this test. :p |
Originally posted by Stang Spanker Well, it starts like crap on hills, but it seems to not be too much better flat either. A few days before this the dealer replaced the water pump, i didnt think it could be related ... but then again, these are the same guys that asked me if my SS was a 6 or 8 cyl. :blah: |
it's your fuel pump probably. I had the same problem.
walbro 255lph pump is worth it vs. OEM equipment fix it soon so you can go back to happily spanking stangs :p |
I had the same problem with my 98 firebird it was the ignition relay.
next time it does this switch the relay with the fan relay same part# and see if it helps then you know if that is the problem. |
Re: More problems, car wont start
For anyone looking up this thread later, it ended up being the ignition relay
