Might be getting my first bowtie. General questions.

There is a decent possibility that I may be getting my hands on a 1993 Z28 with a 4 speed auto ( Would prefer a M6 but I still prefer any Camaro over the Blazer I drive )

My previous car was an 1988 Trans Am GTA with a 350 + 4 speed auto so I'm no stranger to a harsh ride and actual Torque.

I know Opti-Sparks are notorious for moisture damage in the earlier years and the plugs + wires are an absolute PITA for LT1s but build quality is leagues better than the previous generation.

Is there anything else that is known to go bad on LT1s? For example, ICMs on the old L98s were prone to going out from heat damage and the valve seals going bad causing blue smoke on startup was extremely common as well.

I haven't looked at the Z in question so are there any other areas prone to rust ( I know the spots on the 3rd gens ) or just anything in particular to look out for? Just anything specific that should raise red flags.

Thanks in advance.

looking for something that old you could probably find something that is mostly rebuilt. some People dumped so much money into those cars to mod them up you should be able to find one with rebuilt motors and trannys, clutches, rears and new radiators. Infact if your going to buy a 20 year old car you might as well look for a complete hot rod that will be more reliable than a stock used one, I wouldnt trust any stock component that old to be reliable. Also i would not get one that old with t-tops, it's just too likely that they will or have leaked badly and rusted or will flood the interior. however there are camaros out there that people bought as trophy cars that are almsot still like new, garaged with very low miles.

Thanks for the advice, but that didn't answer my questions in the slightest.
