Mechanical fuel pressure gauge - Yes or No
 
What do you guys think, should i get the mechincal fuel gauge, for like $40 or get the electric one for like $180. I guess the main question is, has anyone ever had a problem with a mechanical one. If i seal it up real well i shouldn't have any problems. But what do you guys thinks :cool:

Not sure what you might be looking at for a mechanical gauge, but don't run any lines with fuel into the passenger compartment. Too dangerous.

when I set mine up I think I may just chance it and set up a mechanical in the piller pod. fuel in teh car would be bad though, im just so freaking cheep.......

Bit of advice:
Mechanical FP gage- engine compartment. :eek:
Electrical FP gage- for the interior. :D

You would be totally insane to install a mechanical fuel pressure gauge inside the passenger compartment. If you decide you just can't live without it, you are required to use a "high pressure isolator" at the firewall. The cost of that part from AutoMeter (#5282) is about $110. Add the required braided SS lines, and your mechanical gauge will cost more that an electric gauge.

I had a mechanical gauge, with an AutoMeter high pressure isolator (#5280). The isolator FAILED and allowed raw fuel into the line inside the passenger compartment. AutoMeter recalled the #5280 isolator, and gave me full credit for the cost of my mechanical gauge, SS lines and the isolator, toward an electric fuel pressure gauge.

While you may feel you don't mind risking your life in this manner, it would be irresponsible to expose your passengers to the risk of incineration. Any sharp track "tech" would probably throw you out.
