how to bypass map sensor on 94 Camaro v6

Re: map sensor

Map sensors are pretty cheap. Why bypass it? But to answer your question, I think the best bet is to just unplug it and let the computer set a code and ignore it if possible.

Re: map sensor

The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for engine load input. The PCM uses this input, as well as others, to calculate the correct amount of fuel to inject into the cylinders.

A failed MAP sensor has serious implications on fuel control, vehicle tailpipe emissions and fuel economy.

Curious why you would want to eliminate it ?

Re: map sensor

3.4L V6 operates in speed-density = no MAF sensor. There are two CRITICAL sensor inputs to the speed-density mass air flow calculation - ACCURATE (absolute) inlet air temperature, and ACCURATE Manifold Absolute Pressure. Bypassing the MAP sensor will totally screw up the mass air flow calculation, which totally screws up the A/F ratio.

And the ignition timing table needs accurate MAP.

Might just as well cut off a couple spark plug wires while you're at it.

Re: map sensor

my map sensor elect. connector broke and I tried to splice on a new connector but the 3 wires coming out of the harness are very short and one of them theirs not even enough wire coming out of the harness to make a splice and I cant get my hands down to the harness it's a nightmare any help would be appreciated.

Re: map sensor

No choice... you have to expose more of the harness wires. Did you buy a "pigtail" - connector plus wires, or just a connector?
