how much would it cost for a 94 lt1 engine swap? could i do it myself or is it something that a professional should do?

Re: lt1 swap
Whether you could do it yourself depends on your level of expertise and facilities you have.

Re: lt1 swap
When I was in college we used to do engine swaps in 3rd gens, we did 3 in 1 summer. We'd go down to the tool rental place and rent the cherry picker for a day and get-r-done. All we had were a few cheap tool kits with the basic sockets and stuff, in addition to all sorts of screw drivers and other typical tools. My parents would get pretty angry when we'd pull the coolant hoses off and just let the antifreeze run down the driveway.
If you have a little knowlege and some determination anything is possible. |

Or maybe you already have a 94 LT1, and want to "swap" in something else.... maybe a 454 big block? More info required. |

Re: lt1 swap
It's straight forward if you're mechanically inclined and have access to and engine hoist, jack stands, etc.

Re: lt1 swap
Yeah its easy. I didn't have a cherry picker so I used the header on my garage door. I'd never changed out an engine before just stuff like clutches, suspensions, spark plugs, batteries, etc. I just took pictures and labeled all my wires. Its fairly simple. You may want to get a Hayes book for your car just for reference purposes.
