Shifter plate removal on 94Z/Auto

I searched around but couldn't find any info on how to remove the stock shifter plate on a 94Z with 4L60E. Does the shifter **** come off somehow? Does the shaft for the shifter get unbolted from below (looks tricky)? Or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Re: Shifter plate removal on 94Z/Auto

I did a Bing search and found this:

"There is a small metal C clip on the front side of the ****. You can use a small flat head screwdriver to pry it off. Then twist and pull the **** right off. It takes some muscle."

Maybe this can help someone else. I'm going to give it a try right now.

Happy Father's Day!
