Ignition Problem

I have a 94 camaro with the LT1. For the most part everything is stock. The motor has been running wierd. Everyonce in awhile i will get a slight miss. For the last couple of days i have had a hard time starting the engine. When I engage the starter the motor will fire up and run, But i soon as I disengage the starter the motor will die. It is like I shut off the motor. It would do this 4 or 5 times and then it would start and run. Today on the way to work the engine died and would not start. I must of tried 20 times. It would seam to fire up fine until i disengage the starter.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Thanks for all the help.

Re: Ignition Problem

One thought is the ignition switch. It might be going bad or out of adjustment. You would need to do some more testing, though. See if the PCM BAT or other items that come on with the ignition switch are losing power when you release the key from the START position. You can use a meter or test light at the fuse panel on the side of the dash. The fuses have a little place on the top where you can use a probe.

Re: Ignition Problem

your correct. It is the ignition switch or something related to that. How do you adjust the ignition? I was also told that i might have a relay that the ignition switch goes though. is this true? if so were is it located?

Thanks
