Bad miss after washing car. Thought opti but was wrong.

I have read more threads on people haveing a bad miss when they wash there car. I did it today and thought like all the others it was the opti and it needed to dry out. I opened the hood and the opti was completely dry but the maf had water on it and the connector. I relocated it down in the front corner bumper with the air filter. I never thought it would get wet but if you relocate your be careful. I never drive it in the rain but will need to keep it dry when i wash it. What would work good to insulate it without causing any problem?

Yeah same problem here.. Except mine goes away after 1 min of driving.. So I havent opened the hood and checked what gets wet. I didnt think it was possible for water to get in there through the top of the hood but now that you mention it ill check next time.

Its totally not visible so what about wrapping it with something watertight? I even thought of cutting some plastic pipe thats big enough and slipping it over the top to keep the water from dripping down on it.

How about just skipping the underbody spray?

You can either slowly nose the front into the wash, and when the underbody spray starts, roll backwards and it will stop; or you can move the front very quickly past the spray, and slow down to catch the rear.

This is what I do, and I never have a problem with a misfire after a wash.

My maf is in the front bumper corner so it is not in a usual spot. The water was actually running in through the outside of the hood and down by the fuse block on to it.
