How much does the starter cost on my LT1

Starter dumped out on me. 97 LT1. Whats the going price on these. i keep getting different answers ranging from 120 to 250. Im like whoa nitro which one is it?

I'm sure it depends on what starter you buy and where you buy it from. There is a whole internet out there you can look up starter prices.

and thats exactly what im doing. im using camaroz28.com to get info on starter prices. the internet is great isnt it

I'm pretty sure he meant to imply that you use the internet to look at vendor's prices.

Also, keep in mind if you take it out and bring it to autozone or anything like that you will most likely get a credit for the core. Also, that will allow the parts store to look starter and give you the right one so you don't have to guess.

thanks for holding my hand. now if i could find someone to babysit me while i put it all together. hmm

i didnt realize i could get a core credit for the thing. Now it feels right to post this on here. it all makes sense now. thanks for the life lesson

It's not so much as a core credit as it would be considered a core fee if you didn't have the starter. Any place you call will give you the price assuming you've got a core. I work at Autozone, and if I recall the starter for my 94Z is 125 or so... $250 is absolutely absurd unless it's like a high-torque performance starter, or an OEM GM part.

Mine went out right after I got the car. I didnt work at autozone at the time *do now lol* But mine was $151 with I believe $25 core? I even looked at the price on it today for some odd reason. I duno if that price is all over or just a regional and things change around kinda thing.... but thats what mine in Utard Cost
