How to 'fix' door.

Hey all, hope this is in the right forum.

I just bought a 1994 Trans Am. AMAZING car. However, one little problem is the passanger door is 'seperating.' What I mean by that, is that the door exterior, is seperated from the rest of the door along the edge closest to the handle.

How should get them to bind together? I'm thinking the door is fiberglass, so mabye fiberglass resin glue stuff? Just plain old caulking? Super glue?

Thanks!

I'd say take it to a body shop. They probably have the right stuff to fix it there. It shouldn't take long and shouldn't be too expensive. I'd take it to several though to make sure one isn't trying to rip you off.

Good Luck

Its actually mostly plastic. Take it to a body shop. A good STRONG epoxy+clamps will hold it together. Mine's help for at least a year and a repaint and you cant tell it had ever seperated

That sounds excellent, if you don't mind my asking about how much did it cost you?

Re: How to 'fix' door.

I had that problem on my 93 Camaro. I had 2 body shops look at it. One quoted me ~$450. Another $75. I took the $75. I was very happy with it. I later showed the body shop that did the work my estimate from the $450 place. they said yeah that place was gona do primer/paint work and blending and everything including removing the window and tons of stuff like that. I guess if i had a brand new BMW or something exotic maybe that would have been worth it, but I really didnt care if there was a small line on the inside of my door jamb.

This place just clamped glued and clamped the door. I couldnt have been happier with it.

Hope this helps.
