I think it would be to your advantage to set up a “signature”, and add your location to the information that shows up under your name in your posts. This guide was set up for 4th Gen vehicles, but shows the critical info that helps people provide you with accurate responses.

https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/lt1...nature-879835/

I will also caution - the majority of the members seem to be 4th Gen owners, with different engines than the original “small block” Chevrolet engine. May delay responses to your questions. Hopefully a Gen1 SBC owner will see this and respond. Wish we had move active members, but interest in these cars is simply not what it used to be.

That said, let me see if I can find a parts guide applicable to your engine.

Re: HELP need gasket part number

The problem is calling it the "valley cover". The L98 TPI uses a 2-piece intake manifold. Lower intake manifold bolts to the heads/covers the valley, upper intake (plenum and runners) manifold bolts to the lower intake manifold. There is nothing like a classic valley cover used in many other engines.

This is a complete manifold gasket set (Corvette L98 is same as Camaro L98):

Here's an article on solving the L98 intake manifold leak issues:

Re: HELP need gasket part number

Hold off on the gasket kit I linked above. Not sure it there were not some minor differences in the Corvette vs. Camaro heads.

But the concept will be the same.

Re: HELP need gasket part number

When I talked to Pace Parts, they claimed the above set was only for the Corvette, and GM had discontinued the set for the Camaro. This one looks better:

Re: HELP need gasket part number

Thanks Injuneer for your time ,i have since worked out that up to 1987 they used two rubber gaskets at each end of the intake and it seems after that they just used sealant ,go figure, that one on summet racing is basically the only one ive seen with the end gaskets
