Headers rusting already
Ok guys, ive had my mac headers on for maybe two months and they are already showing signs of rust...mostly around the flanges but there are starting to be spots on the primaries also. What can i do about this? I know there is jet hot coating but can it be done without the headers being new? Or is it to late? and if its to late to prevent more rusting, could i just use header wrap on them? :( I dont want rusted headers under my hood

Re: Headers rusting already
Jet Hot can coat headers that are rusted. I sold and old set to my friend who had them coated, look BRAND NEW.

Something like $200 without the y pipe being done. I'd recommend it, I wish I kept them and had them coated instead of buying a new set.

Re: Headers rusting already
I know the coating is to keep heat in the headers and out of the engine bay.
But, do rusty header's really effect anything? Like, is it just surface rust that'll take a few years to rust through, or will they rust through in a few months? Thanks. |
Re: Headers rusting already
They look like crap when they rust and they become brittle after a while increasing the chances of cracking.
